Figure 1. Connect headboard to footboard with stabilizer bars using 8 size "B" bolts and lock nuts. Keyhole slot on end of stabilizer bars goes to the top. NOTE: the stabilizer bars are heavy so it is recommended that your helper balance the unattached end of the bars until they have been secured. The lock nuts will develop resistance after approximately 2 turns as they contact the locking threads. |

To install crib cane rods (Figure 2) inset cane rod through top rail of the dropside (Point A). Each rod is notched to accept the safety lock and this notch should face toward the center of the dropside. The cane rod is then inserted through the dropside (Point B). Place the bumper spring over the rod with the largest part of the coil facing up (Point C). While holding up the spring, place the rod through the bottom bracket (Point D). Repeat for all 4 rods.
Place box support on stabalizer bars as shown in Figure 1. Place mattress on top of box support. The mattress always remains at this one safe low position. |

| Figure 3. To lower a dropdside, disengage the double action button catches by pressing in on the white plastic safety circle and pulling out on the metal pin. Both locks should be operated simultaneously. When raising the dropside, make sure both button catches fit securely in the notches of the crib rods.
Because you have a new crib, the movement of your crib parts may be stiff at first until you have used it. You may want to use some soap or wax to rub on the parts until they are broken in. For instance, your crib rods may not glide smoothly at first and need some lubrication. TODDLER GATE: To open the toddler door, pull down on the lock located at the top and pull up on the lock located at the bottom. The operation is the same as locks on crib rods. This is not designed for your child to open which is the reason for the double lock. The gate was created for you to open when your child has reached an age when he is learning to walk and can safely climb in and out on his own. This helps eliminate his need to climb over the side and fall out as many children do when they begin to crawl and walk. It is recommended that once the child begins climbing in and out through the gate opening, you remove the gate (as illustrated in the youth bed assembly. |

If you do not want to disassemble the footboard and gate dropside, you can remove the gate dropside from the crib and leave the full dropside on the crib in the down position. This leaves one side open for your child to get in and out of the bed. Leaving the full dropside on the crib gives additional support and strength to the youth bed. It is recommended that you remove the wheels from the legs for additional stability and a lower bed height.
